You will be able to look through the categories of Things in the Library, see if the item you are looking for is there and whether it is available when you want it, and book it online.
The first time you want to borrow an item, you’ll have to come along with proof of who you are and where you live and go through the (not-too-onerous) form-filling. After that you’ll have a user-ID with SHARE Oxford. You’ll have to choose whether you want to do this as a one-off or if you want to become a member; it really helps us if you become a member, and we are trying to make this a fair and sensible option for you too.
When you book the item, you’ll be able to choose when you want to come and collect it. We have regular opening hours but we can also try to find a suitable time to be there outside those hours for you to come along, and the same for when you return the item. When you come, we log the item out, agree with you when you’ll bring it back, make sure you know how to use it, note anything about its condition, etc, and it’s yours to use – and then return for the next person to use.
If we don’t have what you are looking for, you can get in touch and ask if we will be able to get it, know where you can borrow it elsewhere, etc. No guarantees but always worth asking.
