A new Repair Café for Blackbird Leys!

We’re launching a new repair café in Blackbird Leys, in partnership with Oxford Hub!

We’re excited to be teaming up with Oxford Hub to bring a repair café to Blackbird Leys, at Oxford Hub, Windale Ave, OX4 6JD. We’ll offer sewing, electrical/mechanical and bike repairs and maintenance as well as IT support. Repairs will be free (donations welcome) and we’ll be offering tea and cake for what should be a fun few hours!

The first session is set for 11 June, 11am-2pm, and we’ll aim to make it a monthly event running on the first Thursday. Find out more about this and our other repair events on our Repair page.

Help out or bake?

We are building the team for this café, so we’d love to hear from you if you’re keen to volunteer. If you are a skilled repairer, that will of course be fantastic. If not, we also need a hosting team, to welcome people, match up guests with repairers, keep the space safe and ensure everyone has plenty of tea and cake. On which note, bakers, we are very grateful for any contributions you’d like to bring!

Bring stuff to fix or IT you need a hand with!

Of course, we would also love to see you to come along with anything you would like repaired on the day or any tech you need help using. We’re running a first-come-first-served drop-in service so there’s no need to book, but if you have any questions before coming in, feel free to email repaircafe@shareoxford.org. You’re also welcome to pop in if you just want to see what’s on and have a chat with some friendly people who share your interest in looking after our stuff and keeping things from the bin.

Can you help with funding?

Each café costs approx £300 to run and we are looking for sponsors to help us make this a monthly event. If you know anyone who might be interested, we’d love to hear from you!

Or if you would like to make a donation yourself, every pound helps and it’s easy to donate with gift aid at our Crowdfunder page.
